…….at least that’s the rhyme that I was taught, only here we are on the 24th day of April and the showers are a ‘no-show’! Current rainfall for this month: 0.0 mm!

Last week we had temperatures of 18.8 degrees C, next week they’re forecasting snow.

Eurovision Tedium Time

Well the Eurovision ~~Political~~ Song Contest is with us again. Why do we (via our licence fee) keep bankrolling this load of old tosh! It’s got nothing to do with the songs, it’s all political.

We’ll come nowhere again as noone likes us, the only redeeming grace will be watching Terry Wogan take the mickey out of the whole fiasco!

Oh dear, I’ve let this slip a bit haven’t I? Well with 2007 fully installed we wait to see what the new year will bring.

We have lots of Microsoft new releases this year.

Vista - Microsoft’s new version of the Windows Operating System launches 30th January!

Office 2007 - Also launching 30th January!

Exchange 2007 - Launches 1st February.

It remains to be seen how much work this will all create, I’ve been running the beta candidates of all these and they certainly look promising. We shall see.

Michael Jackson’s Chin

Okay, so I’ve just seen the footage of the Michael Jackson comeback non-performance at the World Music Awards.

I simply cannot get over what he has done to his chin, he now looks like some bizarre creation of Avid Merrion!

I see here that my ex-employer Norwich Union are dumping yet more staff.

I can’t say I’m suprised, I could see this coming in March when I took voluntary redundancy.

Difficult to see it as any more than a cynical cost cutting exercise, and it’s not as if they’re losing money!

My sister has just bought herself a Corvette, (I thought it was men who were supposed to get a mid-life crisis!) yesterday she let me drive it.

Trouble is, now I want one…… wonder if Santa could get one down the chimney at Christmas!

Soggy August

Some of you may be aware that I have an interest in the weather and operate my own weather station.

Well I can report that August was positively soggy with 119.1mm of rain out of an annual total so far of 325.4mm, that’s 37% of the total rainfall so far this year falling in one month!

Flaming Corporations!

I’ve just been migrating a server to a new machine, I decided that the best way was to clone the disk so I went hunting on the internet looking for a great little utility called PowerQuest Diskcopy. It was great, it would fit on a bootable floppy you’d install the source and target disks in a machine boot it from a floppy and it would make an exact copy of the drive.

Only it seems that PowerQuest have now been absorbed by Symantec and the Diskcopy utility seems to have dissapeared without trace, presumably absorbed in to some piece of bloatware that does loads of things I don’t need with a price to match.

GRRRRRRR - Can’t help feeling this blog is turning into a rant!

In a desparate (and probably fruitless) attempt to keep one step ahead of the spammers I have moved the blog to some webspace hosted by my company and we are now running WordPress, which is easier to administer (and delete trackback spam!)
